"Education is a fundamental element for the development of a nation and the best investment in its youth", states Vision 2021, which was launched in 2010 by H.H. A decade ago, the UAE had a shortage of top-quality schools that were international in their outlook yet had a healthy respect for local culture and language. Today, Dubai has approximately 180 English medium private schools, with many more to be built in the next three years; Abu Dhabi also has plans to increase the number of international private schools, which are currently approaching 190 schools.

Taaleem, formerly Beacon Education, was founded locally in 2004 and launched four schools with differing curricula in 2005: The American Academy for Girls in Al Mizhar (AAM); Uptown Primary School in Mirdif (UPS); Dubai British School in The Springs (DBS); and The Children’s Garden in the Green Community (TCG). Today Taaleem has a portfolio of 11 schools with an enrolment of circa 9,000 students, and has built capacity to cope with future demand for places.

Looking forward, quality, innovation and differentiation are the three key factors that will make schools successful in the UAE. Our forward-looking strategy is therefore focused on delivering world class, student-centred education. Our local roots and past experience enables us to have a real understanding of the complexities of a rapidly changing world and the ability to build in the flexibility needed to deliver to high quality education demanded by our stakeholders.

Our graduates are securing an increasing number of places in the world’s leading universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League Universities and Colleges.

Taaleem is well poised to take on the challenges of change in the next decade, having built
a reputation both locally and globally as a ‘Pioneer in the Region’, and as a respected and trusted partner in creative joint ventures. Over the last decade we have become the largest trainer of teachers globally for the International Baccalaureate and are proud partners in The Emirates Airlines Festival of Literature, The Dubai International Film Festival, The Dubai SciFest and ChoirFest Middle East.

Our schools will continue to be the cornerstones of their communities both new and old, that will, in turn help drive and underpin the UAE’s future economic development and growth.
