Our Initiatives

Taaleem is continually pioneering and spearheading special projects, outreach activities and initiatives. These are primarily designed to complement the learning in schools and are a part of the holistic approach to education that Taaleem embodies. They range from the academic to the sporting and aim to develop a wide range of skills in a wide variety of situations.

IB Workshops

International Baccalaureate PYP, MYP & Continnum Workshops

A pioneer for the International Baccalaureate curriculum in the United Arab Emirates, Taaleem is one of the world’s largest providers of IB workshops. Held throughout the year, these professional development programmes enable both new and experienced teachers to successfully deliver the PYP, MYP, IBDP and IBCP programmes.

Emirates Litfest - Taaleem Poetry Award

A key part of the annual Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, the Taaleem Award for Poetry honours the UAE’s most talented young poets. Held in Arabic and English, each year the competition focuses on a particular theme and attracts thousands of entries from school children across the country. As well as winning an array of prizes including certificates, signed books and tickets to Festival workshops, all winning entries are published in a dual-language book. In 2016, the UK’s Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy presented the prizes.

DIFF Taaleem Young Animators Award

Launched in 2015 in conjunction with the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), the Taaleem Young Animators Award offers a unique platform for aspiring filmmakers aged 10 to 17, regardless of their experience. Shortlisted participants take part in a workshop with The Animation Chamber, with the winning animation given a world premiere at DIFF.

KHDA SciFest

Taaleem offers logistical support at the annual SciFest in the UAE. Partnered with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), SciFest aims to promote a love of science, creativity, critical thinking and innovation among the UAE’s school children.

The Rhodes Programme

Initiated at our Dubai British School Jumeirah Park, Taaleem collaborated with Michelin-starred chef Gary Rhodes to develop a unique school dining experience that combines healthy, delicious food with social skills and mealtime etiquette. The menu is packed with highly nutritious organic food, and the family-style service encourages children to enjoy meals in a social setting with their peers and teachers, experience new flavours and develop healthy eating habits for life.

The National Ballet Studio

Taaleem is a proud sponsor of The National Ballet Studio, which offers children the opportunity to excel in dance through the highest quality education and training. Alongside its headquarters in Jumeirah Islands Club, National Ballet Studio offers classes at the incredible studio facilities in Dubai British School Jumeirah Park and Dubai British Foundation.

ChoirFest Middle East

ChoirFest Middle East celebrates the region’s rich diversity of choral music. The annual festival features performances by choirs of all ages and musical traditions, offering educational opportunities to singers and conductors through workshops and MasterClasses with some of the world’s top choral groups and conductors. Taaleem is the proud sponsor of ChoirFest’s Arabic Song Prize.
