Richard is an experienced school leader having worked in both state and private schools in the UK, Australia, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from the University of Bedfordshire in 1989 and started his teaching career in Cambridgeshire, England. Richard obtained his Master’s degree in Sports Science in 1997 from Loughborough University, UK and went on to complete his National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) in 2004.

School performance and improvement is central to his work, emanating from being a member of the senior leadership team at one of the top ten Ofsted rated schools in the country.

Richard has been a teacher and school leader with international schools in Australia, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and is a devoted advocate of the IB philosophy to create a better world through education. Prior to joining Jumeira Baccalaureate School he was the Director of Teaching and Learning for Taaleem, working across the group of schools.

A keen sportsman, Richard is a former first class Rugby Player in the UK. He now competes in triathlon events and coaches rugby in his spare time. Richard’s involvement in high level team sport has helped him develop a distributed leadership style that supports collaboration, growth and improvement.
